  • Some new pictures

Seems like I've become the once a month blogger. I keep thinking that I'll have time to update this site, but I usually end up somewhere else or doing something. I guess in this case it's not the thought that counts

So I decided to upload a few pictures. Just for the heck of it... and maybe even try to update a little more often than once a month. No promises though LOL

Here's one of Jakob playing outside. We got him this ride-on toy when he was 1 I think, but he loves playing with it, so I don't have the heart to get rid of it. I'll probably have to after his up and coming birthday. But for now he enjoys it just a little longer.

I took this last night while Jake was watching Caillou on Sprout. He is completely tranfixed by this show. I don't mind him watching it as it's on PBS. No commercials and def no shoot 'em up kind of shows either.

My rose garden a few weeks ago. It was in full bloom and so pretty. I am proud of these roses as Don and I planted them last year. I don't quite have a green thumb, so any plants that survive are a bonus. Well these roses are thriving!! We have John Kennedy's (white), Double Delights (pink front row) and red climbing roses in the back row. I can't remember the name of those though. The Double Delights smell better than any rose I have ever smelled before. Kind of like the rose bath stuff you get. One single flower will smell up the whole room!

And last, but certainly not least...... introducing the newest member of the family.... Krispie!! Crazy name, I know LOL What happened was that during my 1st ultrasound the gestational sac was shaped like a grain of rice. Then came the name Rice Krispie and finally Krispie. So Krispie it shall be.... poor, poor child! LOL He/she will make their grand entrance in December. What a wonderful Christmas present, don't you think?

  • I'm alive :-)

I'm truly embarassed about how long it's been since I last updated Xanga. Heck, I'm not even going to excuse my way out of it... I just didn't feel like it to be completely honest. BUT, I am here now and that's all that matters  So I figured that I would make up for lost time with some pics that were taken in the past month and a half or so.

Here's a picture of Brady laying in her usual spot. This cat has an affinity for laying on things

Here's GT, being such a good sport, That cat is a saint I tell ya! Jakob kept asking us to put the scarf on GT, so we just had to oblige LOL

Here's Jake playing on our new living room furniture. Gotta thank Uncle Sam for these  !! We got them at Sam's Club with our tax refund. Wonderfully soft leather... a must for houses with kids and pets. Everything wipes off easily and much harder to tear.

Don putting the "finishing touches" on the furniture. I love the color of them!! It was 2 chairs, couch and bench. We use the bench as a double ottoman of sorts, and Jake loves laying on it to watch Mickey Mouse.

The only snowfall we had for the winter of '07 & '08. Sad LOL But Jake enjoyed it, and that made it all worth it. I'd have loved it if we actually had enough to make a snowman, but beggars can't be chosers.. you take what you can get.

Alas we come to the lovely dog bite pics. Don's mom is staying with us until her house is ready to be moved into. She has this little dustmop dog, Marty. Actually he's a Lhasa Apso, but dustmop suits him LOL Sweet dog, but never really been around too many kids in his life and is pretty grumpy at times. We always keep an eye on Jake and Marty due to this reason. Jake can't seem to understand why not all dogs are pushovers like ours. This happened on a Sunday. MIL and Marty were on the couch and Jake walks up to Marty and stands face to face. MIL tells Jake 3 times to please move back.. "Marty will bite you Jakob" Eventually Marty did bite. Here's the pic of him the night of the incident and then the day after. You'd have thought that the kid would learn his lesson and stay away from Marty... nope. The very next morning he was wanting to hug Marty (a big no no). This was 2 weeks ago. The wounds have all healed up beautifully. You can barely even see where he got bit anymore. Just a few scars that are fading a little more each day.

Jake "taking" pictures with Grandma's camera. Notice it wasn't actually on ... but he sure had fun! Notice the one of his face.. that was only 4 days after the bite, and already healing up beautifully.

Jake laying in the dog bed as usual. He loves that thing.... maybe I should just give the dogs his bed and swap 'em out!

And last, but definately not least..... Jakob's lovely artwork. He had been in our room playing for a while before bedtime. I should have known that something was up. Quiet kid = up to no good! Yup.... that night Don came in to get on the puter and this is what he sees. I about died laughing!!!! So of course I run and get the camera, as any good mommy would do in this kind of situation.

That's about it for this update. I'm really going to try getting on here more. It's just been hectic around the house trying to get MIL settled in and all her stuff taken care of. She almost had to jump through flaming hoops to get her driver's license.. that was probably the next step   She's 69 and hasn't had a vaild driver's license in over 10 years. FIL did all the drving, so she never bothered to get hers renewed when it expired way back when. So she had to do a driver's course, medical exam, get her driver's record from New Hampshire (last place she had one) and then do the written and driving test! Can you tell they don't want older people on the road? But she finally managed to get it all in order and is now a licensed driver in the state of Louisiana! Woohoo!

Oh, and a little tidbit of info, for those that know the lingo.... we are TTC. I'm currently CD22 , 6DPO , and 4 more days until I can POAS!!! Update more on that later.....

  • What a difference.....

....... a year makes! Since I see myself in the mirror every day, several times a day, I haven't really noticed the changes in my appearance. But pictures don't lie.. or at least these don't  Kinda makes me proud and pleased that I've been able to stay on the downward path as far as my weight goes. Still don't know how much weight I've lost, but that reallt doesn't matter to me.. after all, they are only numbers. What matters is how I feel physically and how my clothes fit. It also helps that my cardiologist said that I was above normal in my exercise conditioning for my age, whatever that means LOL So here are two pics, one from March of last year and then one from a couple of weeks back......

  • New day......

Anyone that knows me knows that yesterday was an awful day for me and my family. So today is a new day, and with that I bring new pictures!!!  The sun is shining, I feel like crap, all is well in my neck of the woods LOL Seriously, I feel quite sick since I got the "bug" that has been running rampant in this town for the past week. Nasty body aches, fever, coughing.. Sunday my body hurt so bad that the water hitting my skin in the shower stung! But it's slowly getting better, although I'm still dizzy and coughing from time to time.

So here's the newest pics that have been uploaded to Xanga......

Most mornings if you enter our house, at, let's say 7:30ish, you'll see this..... Jake glued to the TV. Not the usual thing for him to do....

    JakeWatchingMickey

..... but for Mickey Mouse Clubhouse he will actually sit still for more than 5 minutes!!! This is what he was so intent on in the previous pic.

    Mickey

Here he has moved to his other vantage point... Sky's bed. Pretty pathetic when both dog and Jake are glued to the TV LOL

Here's another day in the life of our attack kitty GT. Geaux Tigers!!!!

    GTsleepingLSU

Sunday we had a glorious day. Sun was shining and it must have been closer to 80. So we took full advantage of the great weather and had us a good old fashioned crawfish boil!! Apparently the guys think that beer is a must have to go along with the mudbugs....

    CrawfishBudlight

Here they are alive in the cooler. The little orange things floating are Jake's Cheetos. He thought they needed a snack, so he dumped what he had left into the cooler LOL

    CrawfishAlive

Here's Don, Brian, Jake and Reece cleaning the bugs out.

    CleaningCrew

Here's 35 lbs of our lovely crawfish, AKA mudbugs. Cooked with lemons and onions in the seasoning. Aren't they making your mouth water.... hahahaha

    MmmmCrawfish

Finally they've made it to the cooler, once again. Full circle of life.. or something like that LOL

    CrawfishCooler

Jakob with yet another "Puppy" I swear the kid has this fascination for stuffed dogs. This was the newest one added just that day.

     Jake&NewestPuppy

Finally I took some pictures of Alexander's basket.  I got it yesterday to put up at his gravesite. It was really an "It's a Boy!" basket, but I took that part off. It was the only thing that I found decent enough for our little boy. The flowers are fake, so they should look good for a little while at least. The basket, in case no one has noticed, is an aiplane.

    Alex's1yrbasket3

Here it is by his marker. It was dark when we got up there so not as pretty a picture as I would have liked, but it will have to do for now. I secured it in the ground with yard stakes, so it should stay put. It was hard going up there. Jakob was with us and he kept wanting to play with all the toys left at the other sites. We had to explain that those toys belonged to the little boys and girls that were up in Heaven with his little brother. He quit asking after that. As we were leaving he looked back and said "Happy Birthday Alex, Bye" I started bawling. It was so cute, yet so hard to swallow.
